Those of us who live close to the Oyster Creek nuclear power plant in Lacey should not have to live in fear of becoming a possible "prompt fatality." Continuing to promote fossil fuels and nuclear power for our energy needs is not only irresponsible but shortsighted. Eventually, we will run out of fossil fuels. destructive by using highly dangerous nuclear power. We no longer have to accept these outdated, polluting power sources now that safe, renewable energy is available.
The nuclear industry promotes itself as an answer to the problems of climate change. However, level emissions from power stations, accidents, pollution and the spread of plutonium for nuclear bombs. Nuclear power is simply the controlled use of nuclear reactions to release energy for work including propulsion, heat and the generation of electricity. Nuclear energy provides 7% of the world’s energy and 15.7% of the world’s electricity. The US produces the most nuclear energy (20% of the energy it consumes) while France produces the highest percentage of its electrical energy from nuclear reactors – around 80%.

Associated Press TEHRAN, Iran (AP) President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday that no power can take nuclear fuel cycle technology away from Iran and vowed that his country will resist pressure from the U.N. Security Council over its nuclear program. "Rest assured that the technology to produce nuclear fuel today is in the hands of the youth of this land and no power can take it back from us, " Ahmadinejad told thousands of people in northern Iran.
